Upon entry, you will be greeted at reception (however, it's easy to walk past and get confused about the process as there is no clear indication that this is your check-in station). Staff members will kindly guide you to the sofa's where they will get you all checked in and hand you your key. A very comfortable and informal experience to make you feel like you're right at home.
As soon as you enter the stables, you are immediately greeted by a pick 'n' mix wall, filled with jelly beans, pretzels, rhubarb and custards and lemon sherbets.
It didn’t take long for us to help ourselves to bag, filling it with our favourite hard boiled sweets to take back to our room.
The Stables also has 'Doggy Hydration Stations' dotted around, reminding you that the hotel is a dog-friendly estate.
The Fish Hotel - The Stables
When booking a room at The Fish, you have a few options to choose from.
You can book a room or suite in the Outhouse, Coachhouse or Stables.
Or you can decide to go for a more of a glamping experience in one of the Luxury Hut's or treetop hideaways, (something I will definitely be adding to my bucket list).
We decided to book a medium room in the stables and upgraded our package to a ‘supper and stay’.
Supper & Stay
This includes:
- accommodation in your chosen room;
- £35pp at The Hook Restaurant (food only); and
- Full Cotswolds breakfast
tip: Some of the medium rooms are dog-friendly - when booking, ensure you contact the Fish to ensure your room is correctly allocated to a dog-friendly room.
You may also see a few wine dispensers dotted around the site.
Home to a selection of reds, whites and rosé wine, all dispensers hold a different selection, so you will never get bored of the ones on display.
In order to access, you will need a wine card which you can either add on to your package when purchasing your room, or request a card from reception. Credit is added to your card and you simply insert, press and go.
Perfect for a late night tipple.

The Fish Hotel - The Bar
After unpacking our bags, and feeling a little peckish, we decided to take a quick 2 minute walk to the bar.
We ordered our drinks and a pizza to share before our dinner reservation & decided the weather was too nice not to sit outside and people watch.
Since we last visited, it seems the bar menu has been upgraded Including a selection of hotdogs, loaded fries and chicken wings.

One of the showstoppers on site, is their restaurant, The Hook.
Sea-food inspired, The Hook is a fine dining restaurant with a laid back feel.
Now, I‘ll be honest. I have a huge dislike to seafood. I wish I didn’t and would love my palate to be more versatile - but, you like what you like, and sadly, seafood is not for me. So you can understand my concern when I realised the food on offer was seafood inspired.
Praying there would be something on the menu, I could enjoy, the Hook did not disappoint. Whether you are a meat lover or a vegetation, there should be something on the menu to your liking.

Whilst my friend decided to try Oysters for the first time….
…. I tried the Sticky Chaur Sui Pork Belly.
Absolutely beautiful.
Full from our mains but not being able to resist dessert, we decided to share just the one between us.
The Chocolate Cremeux with Salt Caramel Ice Cream. Just enough to get rid of my sweet tooth craving but not so much where it felt heavy and sickly.
After dinner, we headed to The Games Room where there was a selection of board games.
Deciding on a game of scrabble - we allowed our food to go down and our minds unwind, before heading to bed.
Morning at The Fish Hotel
Breakfast is served between 7:30am - 10:30am daily and it was beautiful.
Due to our supper and stay packagage, both options were free of charge and did not disappoint.

Once our breakfast had settled in our stomachs and our bodies were able to move again, we took a small wonder around the site before deciding to head to the Boot Room.
It almost feels like a crime leaving your dogs at home.
and don't worry about your dog getting muddy and messing up your hotel room….. The Fish Hotel has you covered…
.... as there is 'dunk your dog' bath tub just outside reception and a boot wash to scrub down your wellies after your muddy walk.
For those who have children, the hotel also offers children’s play area to keep the little ones entertained.
We went to The Fish Hotel Thursday to Friday and therefore, we didn’t see many children running around however, it’s a great option for those who need a getaway but also have little ones with them.
In the summer or on a hot day in England (which, let’s be honest, is extremely rare) they have a mini ’beach’ section for those who want to sunbathe, read a book or simply watch the world go by.
The site also has a dog agility course.
The Fish Hotel seems to have at all. A mini resort with everything you require at your finger tips without having to leave the site itself.
It is the perfect country escape, whether you are looking for a night away with the children, a date night with your partner or a dog friendly hotel, this place ticks all of the boxes for the perfect country getaway.
I will definitely be making a return trip to experience the 'Hilly Huts', so watch this space.
