Boutique Hotels in the Cotswolds | The Wild Rabbit
Looking for boutique hotels in the Cotswolds? Let me introduce you to The Wild Rabbit, a self-proclaimed ‘modern British Inn’ which sits in the centre of honey-stoned Kingham.
Designed by Lady Bamford in 2013 (who also owns Daylesford Organic, The Fox in Oddington, Bamford and Leoubé wine), the estate has 13 pub rooms and 31 Cotswold-Stone cottages to choose from.
All of the rooms and cottages at The Wild Rabbit are named after British wild animals such as The Rabbit, The Mole, The Owl and The Deer to name a few. Expect beautifully exposed beams, natural linens and dry-stone walling - all rooms oozing with character whilst also sticking to the Cotswold, home from home theme.
Searching the room options on The Wild Rabbit Website, we settled on the Beehive Cottage, a self-contained building with full access to Bar and dining room which sit’s adjacent to the cottage.
Let me introduce you to The Wild Rabbit in Kingham.
This post is all about boutique hotels in the Cotswolds, in particular The Wild Rabbit.

The Beehive

Welcome to the Beehive (and look how beautiful she is!).
With exposed brick walls and duck egg blue accents, the building caught my eye instantly.
Upon our arrival, we were sent a pin code to collect our key from the lock box and kindly given our own parking space directly outside the building. This was a dream as the streets were hectic and busy, and therefore you are never guaranteed a parking space outside the main building.

We also had our own private terrace.
Perfect for sitting outside on a beautiful day with a glass of wine. (However, I must mention that the space is not closed off with a gate - just a detail to mention if you are bringing your dog who likes to run around or run off).

The cottage itself is absolutely beautiful.
With stone brick walls, white panelling and wooden accents dotted around the property, everything complimented each other beautifully. What else would you expect from the individual who created Daylesford?

Bringing your Four-Legged Friend
The Wild Rabbit welcomes dogs on site however, they may only stay in specific rooms. These include the Mole, Hare, Otter, Owl and The Beehive.
If you have two dogs, The Wild Rabbit suggests you book the Mole or one of their dog friendly cottages.
You will pay a £15.00 per dog, per night however, they will ensure your dog has a water bowl and bed for the duration of their stay.
According to the Wild Rabbit site, ‘well-behaved dogs’ are welcome on their front and back terrace as well as the bar area however, dogs are not allowed in the main dining room unless you have an assistance dog.

As we made a quick pit stop at Daylesford before we went to the cottage, we decided to open the bottles of wine and prosecco we had purchased to sit outside on our little terrace, before getting ready for dinner.

Originally, we wanted to stay at The Wild Rabbit for dinner as I had heard incredible things about their dining experience. Sadly, the Valentine’s Day menu was not to my liking, so we took a 3-minute stroll to The Plough Inn.
When I say it didn’t disappoint, I mean, it didn’t disappoint. My fiancé stated it was one of the best meals he had ever eaten at a restaurant, and I don’t disagree. Zac had never had pheasant before and he was pleasantly surprised at the flavour. If you’ve read my previous blogposts, you will know I will always do my best to find a good steak, and this was another one that really hit the mark.
The food was beautifully cooked and an incredible find. If you’re ever in the area, or staying at The Wild Rabbit for more than one night, I highly recommend you take a visit.
To top it off, we were also able to bring Odin to dinner with us due to the restaurant being dog-friendly.
Breakfast at the Wild Rabbit

The next morning, we walked over to the main building for breakfast.

You can help yourself to the continental breakfast which is laid out for guests to help themselves before ordering anything hot from the kitchen.

Zac settled on an egg’s benedict…..

… whilst I went for the avocado on toast.
Just like that, our stay was over and it was time to head back to the room, pack our backs and get on the road.
If you’re looking for a boutique hotel in the cotswolds and wanting a stay which feels cosy yet luxurious, I highly recommend you check out The Wild Rabbit cottages. The Cotswolds has always held a special place in my heart, and this little spot had everything we could ask for.
