Satori, Birmingham.
'Satori - A Japanese term for Sudden Enlightenment or Awakening'.
New kid on the block, Satori, recently opened in the city of Birmingham and has already made waves within the industry. Offering an elevated dining experience with exquisite flavours and a beautiful ambience to match, Satori really has ticked all the boxes when looking for the perfect dining experience.
Described as Birmingham's first, Japanese fine dining restaurant, Satori is located in Mosley (roughly a 20 minute UBER journey from Birmingham New Street). Offering a range of dishes from Sushi, Sashimi platters, Wagyu beef and Grilled Sea Food - there is bound to be something on the menu for everyone.
Some dishes may be presented on kintsugi- inspired plates, which according to their website emphasizes the beauty of imperfection and resilience. Satori does their best to embrace tradition whilst also appreciating the beauty in uniqueness and imperfection. They also explain that Satori is not just a place where the food should be the main star of the show, but also the experience, including ambiance, service and atmosphere.
The question is, did Satori achieve their goal?
At the beginning of November, I decided to book a table as an early birthday present to myself, with my friend Amber. After seeing beautiful Instagram photos bursting with colour and watching reel after reel, it certainly looked the part. Was it just another Instagram hot spot that simply looked the part, or did the restaurant really exceed all those expectations? Continue reading below for my thoughts.
