Mowgli Street Food, Nottingham.
A restaurant which claims to serve authentic Indian food and giving us an insight of 'how Indians eat at home and on their streets' (and no, your local Indian takeaway is not authentic Indian food).
Founder, CEO and executive chef Nisha Katona opened her first eatery back Liverpool in 2014 and now owns 18 restaurants across the country. According to Mowgli's website, these dishes created by Nisha convey the truth that real Indian food is extremely healthy, often vegan and always packed with fresh flavour.
I was excited to see what Mowgli's had to offer after hearing about it over the years and made a quick pit stop at their Nottingham site.

Not wanting to miss out on a the cocktail, but having the responsibility of driving us home, I browsed the the Mocktail Menu before setting on a Mowgli Twister (a mix of pineapple juice, raspberry puree & sugar syrup with fresh mint and lime).
The flavour threw me off at first as different flavours whizzed around my mouth. I soon realised that it reminded me of a yellow fruit pastille.
Yoghurt Chat Bombs
Unfortunately, for my little taste buds, I thought there was too much yoghurt packed away into one little puff pastry. There was no denying that these were bursting with flavour and each component enhanced each other beautifully, I just would have preferred less yoghurt in the middle as a personal preference.
Note to self: Pop the whole thing in your mouth. Don't try to bite into it otherwise you'll be covered in sauce.
According to the menu, Chicken Tikka Masala does not exist in India, however, a similar dish is known as Mother Butter Chicken. The dish consists of Tandoori Chicken pieces simmered in a rich, sweet, spiced tomato & yoghurt sauce finished with a gloss of butter.
To accompany our curry, we also ordered a Basmati Rice, Puri Flat Bread and Calcutta Tangled Greens.
I look forward to returning to Mowgli's to try other dishes on the menu and will with so much to choose from, I don't know how I'll pick.
